Fargo Leaders Take Action On Two More Dangerous Houses

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Fargo city leaders take action on two more buildings that city inspectors have deemed to be dangerous.

A house at 909 4th Street North has been the cite of dozens of police calls for service.

Entry doors have been kicked in, there are multiple broken windows along with garbage including drug paraphernalia.

Commissioners voted to have it removed by August 23.

City staff is recommending repairs rather than tearing down the second troubled house at 1449 4th Avenue South.

2023 taxes have not been paid and water and power were turned off that year.

It was the site of a SWAT raid that left an entry damaged.

It is subject to foreclosure.

Fargo City Commissioner Arlette Preston asked, “It seems like this particular building doesn’t have as many structural issues so it’s salvageable, um, I guess my question is December 20 is that going to give them enough time to try to salvage it?”

Fargo Inspections Director Shawn Ouradnik replied, “Again these timelines can be adjusted when we come back to commission and ask for extensions if need be.”

The commission voted that the building must be repaired by December 20 to avoid further action.
