Red River Valley Fair Security Upgrades Include Metal Detectors and Clear Bags

WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Red River Valley Fair is making some security upgrades for this year’s three-weekend event.

Metal detectors will be placed at all gates.

A number of items will be banned from the fairgrounds including weapons of any kind, backpacks, lawn chairs, tobacco, umbrellas, coolers and pets.

Service animals will be allowed.

They are also implementing a clear bag policy for people entering the grandstand.

All purses and bags larger than a clutch will not be allowed.

There will be an exception for diaper bags or medically necessary bags but they will be checked.

Fair leaders say your safety is their top priority.

The fair starts Friday and runs through Sunday before it reopens on the 4th and runs through the 7th.

It’ll also be held July 11-14.
