West Nile Virus Found In Pool of Mosquitoes in Grand Forks

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) — People in Grand Forks are being encouraged to take extra precautions to avoid mosquitoes after the first case of West Nile virus has been found this season.
It was identified in a pool of mosquitoes in the city.
The mosquito most common for transmitting West Nile virus is most active in the few hours after sunset.
To reduce your rick of getting the virus you should use bug repellent that contains DEET, limit outdoor activity between dusk and dawn, wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts.
It’s also important to eliminate standing water around homes.
Symptoms of West Nile include fever, headache, body aches, skin rash and swollen lymph nodes.
