CROOKSTON, Minn. (KVRR/KFGO/KROX) — A police officer in Crookston fatally shot a man during a confrontation at a homeless shelter.

Officers were dispatched to Care and Share shelter around 11:45 last night on a report of a fight in progress.

Police Chief Darin Selzer says one man was being combative toward officers and did not follow their verbal commands.

Less lethal means were deployed before an officer fired their handgun, striking the suspect.

The man died at the scene.
