Dave’s Hot Chicken set for Friday opening in Fargo

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – A fast-food chicken restaurant with roots in California will open its 215th location on Friday in Fargo.

Dave’s Hot Chicken was started seven years ago by four friends who scraped together $900 to buy a small pop-up and a fryer.

Dusty Jensen, owner of the Fargo location, says Dave’s Hot Chicken quickly became one of the fastest-growing restaurant chains in the nation.

“So it all started in L.A. in a pop up parking lot, and they ran that for about 6 months. And then they had such a huge following they had 2-3 hour line waits, and they ended up getting a brick and mortar. Opened the first one in 2018 and then they started franchising a few years ago.”

The menu includes chicken sliders and chicken tenders, french fries, mac-n-cheese, kale slaw and milk shakes. The chicken is served in 7 heat levels ranging from “No Spice” to “Reaper,” which is so hot, customers must sign a waiver.

The Fargo location opens at 10:30 a.m. Friday. It’s located near the corner of 45th St. and 17th Ave. S.
