Iconic Restaurant Stub’s Dining & Gunpowder Bar Destroyed By Fire
BATTLE LAKE, Minn. (KVRR) — The fire at Stub’s Dining and Gunpowder Bar was reported around 9:25 pm Monday. It took about six hours to get the fire under control.
“We had Battle Lake was our primary then we had seven mutual aid departments,” said Tom Minten, Battle Lake Fire Chief.
The fire caused the roof to collapse, along with significant damage to the building’s interior. The restaurant had recently reverted to its off-season hours and was closed on Monday.
“I’m pretty sure it was a total loss. It was pretty well gutted. Half of the roof has fallen in,” said Minten.
While many in the community are waiting to hear what caused the fire, it’s still unclear. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
“We do have the city workers and also a few firemen that have been on scene until now,” said Minten.
No serious injuries were reported. Stub’s first opened in 1969.
