State Representative Gretchen Dobervich Receives Gladys Ray Award
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — The Gladys Ray Award is presented to State Representative Gretchen Dobervich at the Indigenous People’s Day Breakfast.
Dobervitch was nominated for her leadership in both public health and fighting for racial equity.
She is the Public Health Policy Project Manager at American Indian Public Health Resource Center at NDSU.
The award commemorates Gladys Ray, a woman who was a leader and advocate for all people.
Dobervish says she takes this award with pride, but also believes that she is no different from anyone else.
“I don’t do anything different than everyone else does. I’m a member of this community like everyone else in this room and every day we are kind people and we’re good to each other and we lift each other up. And if we have a little more we can make a longer table,” said Dobervich.
The award has been given for over twenty years.
