Cass County Officials Test Election Equipment For Final Preparations

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — With ten days out until the election, officials are testing the electronic voting systems to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.
“This is our time to invite members of the public in to walk them through the process and allow them to see just how secure and how serious we take all of this election equipment. Let them validate how our ballot systems work and really just sort of poke the system, so they feel comfortable with it on election day,” said Bob Henderson, Director of Technology for Cass County.
One of the biggest concerns of voters across the nation is election security. But, Cass County Officials tell us that North Dakota and the country is the safest when it comes to voting.
“I feel extremely secure with our election equipment. It is designed to do exactly this task and not only that we go through numerous rounds of testing, validation, and auditing on every step of our process to make sure the systems are acting correctly, securely and efficiently,” said Henderson.
And for staff and officials there is a lot of hard work underway for the busiest night of the year.
“Getting all the workers involved and up to speed it’s a lot of moving parts and like I said it’s many individuals involved this is a full team effort from a lot of people within the county and we’re very confident that people should have a smooth election day,” said Catlin Solum, Communications Director for Cass County.
Secretary of State Michael Howe has said similar statements to what county officials have stated. With North Dakota being one of the states in the nation using paper ballots he is confident that it is safe and voters should go out to vote.
Cass County residents who plan to vote early can start casting ballots next Tuesday, October 29th.
