LIVE: Local Political Analysts React to Trump’s Rise to Power

FARGO — Local political analysts are taking stock today of Donald Trump’s swift sweep back into power in his campaign against Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

It’s only the second time in more than a hundred years a president has lost and then re-won the American White House.

Dr. Barbara Headrick is a political scientist at MSUM in Moorhead.

She says many poll watchers predicted we wouldn’t know who won the same night, perhaps not for several days or weeks thereafter.

She says they, like she, failed to predict a quick finish to the race, because they were relying on polling data showing the two candidates were consistently within the margin of error.

Headrick says current polling methods are obviously flawed.

She joined the Morning Show for a live interview about the presidential race, the local and statewide measures, and what the new results mean for the region and the rest of the country.
