Dr. Rupak Gandhi says it’s time to move on as he announces resignation

Dr. Ghandi has held the position since 2018.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — After seven years leading the Fargo Public Schools District, Dr. Rupak Gandhi feels it is time to move on to new challenges. He announced his resignation on November 7th in a statement disseminated to the community.

“This decision was not made easily, and I hope the community feels, as I do, the deep sense of connection that has grown between us since my family arrived here in 2018,” Dr. Gandhi said.

“This community has welcomed us, supported us, and shown us what it means to be a part of Fargo. Serving here has been more than a role: it has been a privilege, a calling, and a source of inspiration.”

Dr. Gandhi cited a desire to spend more time with his family as the primary motivation for stepping aside.

“My kids are still at a younger age where they kind of go to bed early, so most of the time that I am at home with them it’s activity, followed by activity, followed by activity,” he explained in an interview with KVRR.

He said it would be better to “just be able to have some downtime and spread that out.”

Dr. Gandhi says he and his wife, Dr. Britney Gandhi, will be staying in the area.

“I said this in one of my first interviews in 2018, and it’s just as true now as it was then, which is that Fargo may be a cold place when it comes to climate, but the people are extremely warm.”

The couple plans to move into a business venture that will support mission-based organizations in ways that allow them to streamline their processes, especially with the integration of A.I. technology.

The Fargo Board of Education will discuss the search for the District’s next superintendent at its next regularly scheduled meeting, which is set for November 12th.
