FARGO (KVRR-KFGO) – Fargo fire crews were called to an apartment fire in the 500 block of 29th Avenue N. around 6:15 a.m. Monday.

Battalion Chief Joe Mangin says firefighters could see smoke and fire from a first floor unit when they arrived. He says the occupant of the unit was outside, but his dog was inside. The dog was rescued by firefighters. Mangin says the dog was aggressive and two firefighters were bit. They will be treated.

Firefighters evacuated the building and helped several people get outside. No one was hurt.

The residents will be able to stay in the building after smoke is cleared and it is safe for them to reenter.
