West Fargo VFW celebrates Veterans Day

WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Veterans Day is full of fanfare and remembrance for those who served.

The West Fargo VFW event started with a flag raising ceremony followed by a speech by Retired Brigadier General Ron Solberg.

There was also music from the West Fargo High School band and a solemn rendition of “Taps” by a post member.

Many spoke at the event, including West Fargo Mayor Bernie Dardis, who thanked the community for coming out to support veterans on this special day.

Mayor Dardis says, “We’ve always taken great pride in the fact that one of our local high schools, the West Fargo High School, has participated on a day that all the students have off. And they get their full band here and they play all those great America songs, tributes to our military. It’s just fantastic.”

The event continued with the VFW serving a stew lunch.

The Red River Valley Veterans Concert Band will play at 7.
