Gov. Doug Burgum Presents 2025-2027 Budget With Focus On Stability For North Dakotans

BISMARCK, N.D. (KVRR) — Gov. Doug Burgum presents his final executive budget proposal to the North Dakota legislature.

The proposed budget for 2025-27 is at $19.6 billion, a slight decrease from the current two-year budget.

He offered a rosy budget picture based largely on the success in extracting near-record levels of oil and gas.

He wants to improve housing affordability, accessibility, and workforce programs.

The proposal includes no new taxes as Burgum says he wants North Dakotans to be able to keep more of their money.

“We keep the money in the hands of the citizens. And that’s a goal worth pursuing every day and with our financial success you have an opportunity here to continue to take us down that path,” said Doug Burgum, ND Governor.

Burgum’s last day in office will be December 14.

He has been nominated to become the next Interior Secretary.
