Former Minnesota State Representative Mary Murphy dies

MINNESOTA (KVRR) — Former Minnesota State Representative Mary Murphy has passed away.
The longtime democrat died Christmas day.
She recently suffered a stroke and was about to enter hospice care.
Murphy made history as Minnesota’s longest-serving female lawmaker and the second-longest serving lawmaker overall.
Senator Amy Klobuchar released a statement and said, “Mary Murphy was an incredible Minnesotan who dedicated her life to serving the Northland. As a former teacher, she was a strong advocate for improving education for our children and she also fought to protect victims of domestic violence and stalking. Mary was in so many ways ahead of her time and was often the only woman at the table in northern Minnesota. That’s changed now thanks to her trailblazing legacy. John and I send our deepest condolences to Mary’s friends and family.”
