FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A Fargo man faces charges after breaking into Dairy Queen along 52nd Avenue South in Fargo on New Year’s Eve and causing thousands of dollars in damage.

Keaton Nowacki is charged with felony criminal mischief with intentional damage of over $10,000 and misdemeanor criminal trespass.

Court records show police were called to the business after an alarm went off.

Nowacki told officers the doors were unlocked so he went in and destroyed everything at the place he used to work.

Police say since Nowacki has autism, his mother was contacted and arrived on scene before he was questioned.

The owners also arrived on scene and estimated damage to be around $112,000.

A social media post says Dairy Queen has since reopened but is drive-thru only.

They are also taking cake orders over the phone at 701-532-2055.

A preliminary hearing for Nowacki is set for February 6.
