UPDATE: City of Binford says water supply is safe

BINFORD, N.D. (KVRR: UPDATE 6:30 PM 01/16/25) — Binford city officials say the water is safe to drink.

Tests from North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality came back negative for any contaminants and the mains have been flushed as a precaution.

The water restrictions have been lifted and the water is safe to drink.

BINFORD, N.D. (KVRR) – Authorities are investigating the possibility that the municipal water supply may be contaminated in Binford, North Dakota.

Binford residents are urged not to drink, bathe or cook with the water until further notice.

“The state Department of Water quality was here last night and collected samples. We hope to know by late morning if there is contamination,” according to the city of Binford’s Facebook page.

“Please do not drink, bathe in, or cook with the water until we know it is safe. Bottled water is available at the fire hall beginning at 8am. Thank you for your patience.”

Griggs County Emergency Management spokesman Jayme Tenneson says declined to discuss what type of contamination may be affecting the water, but he says more information is expected to be released today.
