Protest Against ICE and Deportations Moves Through Downtown
The protest was organized on Facebook by Latino Networking FM.

FARGO, N.D. – On Saturday, protesters gathered in front of Fargo City Hall, braving the elements to fight for the rights of those affected by Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
“We’re standing here not just for ourselves, but for our families, our ancestors, and the generations to come,” said protest organizer Geniya Vazquez.
The crowd began gathering at around 3 in the afternoon, growing in size, carrying signs and flags to deliver their message.
Vazquez says Trump’s aggressive policy of enforcement has had negative effects on the Latino community.
“There’s a lot of fear. There’s a lot of silence. People are scared right now,” she said
Local schoolteachers in attendance agreed, saying they’ve noticed some Latino families keeping their kids at home, even if they’re properly documented.
Once a substantial amount of people arrived at city hall, the group set off. They headed down Second Ave., made a loop on Broadway, then circled back to City Hall via 4th Ave.
Their goal – demonstrating that the Latino community is tough and resilient.
“Like you saw today, a lot of us are standing up for that,” said Vazquez.
“A lot of us are showing up. I mean, that’s what matters. We’re not all scared. We’re all strong and we’re here and we’re here to protect our people and be here for our people.”
