Community remembers fallen Officer Jason Moszer in memorial ceremony

FARGO, N.D. — Family, friends, and brother in blue gathered at the Fargo Police Department Tuesday to honor an officer who died in the line of duty nearly ten years ago.

Fargo Police Officer Jason Moszer was killed in the line of duty on February 11, 2016, while responding to a domestic violence call in the area of 3rd Street North and 9th Avenue North.

After a rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” by Rosanna and Jasper Juliano of the band Slamabama, Police Chaplain Sarah Seibold conducted an invocation of prayer.

Videos were then played honoring Moszer and his family.

Outside police headquarters a flag lowering ceremony was held in honor of Moszer while “Taps” was played.

Once the flags were lowered to half-staff, an officer rang a bell nine times, in honor of Moszer.

Police Chief David Zibolski spoke on how Moszer’s memory and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

“We are now all able to recognize, appreciate, and honor Jason. His character, commitment, selflessness, and devotion to his duty as a guardian of our community will never be forgotten. He exemplified those qualities until his last breath,” said Fargo Police Chief David Zibolski.

One other Fargo Police officer died in the line of duty since Jason Moszer. Officer Jake Wallin was killed in a mass shooting July 14, 2023.

Before Moszer died in the line of duty, the last fallen Fargo officer was Frederick Alderman in 1882.
