LISBON, N.D. (KVRR) — The screen is about to go dark at one of the oldest continually operating movie theaters in America.

The Scenic Theater, which was first opened in 1911, has scheduled it’s final movie and will close in March.

“Dogman” will be shown this Friday, Saturday and Sunday and again on March 1st and 2nd.

The current owners, Al and Betty Michels, have been at it for 24 years.

In a social media post suggesting they start a GoFundMe to stay open, they responded that they have many interested buyers right now and they don’t anticipate a problem selling.

They wrote, “People do not want to see it closed!”
