National Weather Service Predicts Little To No Flooding This Spring

Flooding Outlook

FARGO, N.D.  (KVRR) — National Weather Service of Grand Forks says probabilities for flooding in the Red River and Devils Lake basins have decreased slightly.

The last flood outlook was issued just two weeks ago.

In that time, the area has seen continued below normal precipitation.

They expect near average spring flood threats at this time.

This comes as the snowfall this winter has been below average.

Minor to isolated moderate spring flooding is expected for some locations.

Weather service officials say that any major flooding this season is unlikely unless we get a lot of precipitation.

As the days go by and the snow melts the ground starts thawing and we don’t see a lot of precipitation, the chance for a lot of flooding does decrease as we go day to day,” said Amanda Lee with National Weather Service.

The last flood outlook for the season will be released on March 13.
