Woman Accused of Stealing Nearly $300,000 From Elderly Man in Marshall County, MN

MARSHALL CO., Minn. (KVRR) — A Thief River Falls, Minnesota woman is accused of stealing nearly $300,000 from an elderly man that she has power of attorney over.

Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says Hollie Baker-Walseth is being charged with felony theft.

The sheriff’s office was tipped off by the man’s family in January.

They discovered Baker-Walseth had made nearly 1,000 unauthorized transactions from the man’s accounts between 2021 and 2024 totaling over $292,000.

If convicted, Baker-Walseth faces up to 20 years in prison.

The sheriff’s office has worked on many similar fraud cases and recovered hundreds of thousands of dollars for people who have been taken advantage of.
