Sen. Klobuchar Speaks With Businesses and Producers Impacted By Tariffs
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KVRR) — As steel and aluminum tariffs take effect, Democrat Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota is talking with business owners and producers to find how it’ll impact them.
The tariffs come nearly a week after President Trump announced a second pause on tariffs for both Canada and Mexico.
It puts a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum.
Canada is one of the top exporters of these materials to Minnesota.
For one Minnesota brewer, the tariffs have him concerned.
“This will be another impact for us. The uncertainty is definitely a bit nerve wracking on my part, but at the end of the day I have payroll to make, I have a bank loan I need to pay off and if my costs are going up I’m going to have to pass that along down the chain,” said Patrick Sundberg, Founder of Jack Pine Brewery.
Brewers have yet to see the full impact of the tariffs.
Klobuchar says she is currently working to combat them.
