Recall Effort Underway Against Valley City Mayor and Commissioners, Mayor Responds

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (KVRR/NEWSDAKOTA 8pm UPDATE) — A recall effort is underway in Valley City to remove the mayor and all current city commissioners.
The group behind the recall cites concerns over recent city projects and financial mismanagement.
They say city leaders are pushing projects that taxpayers do not want and refuse to put the new Public Works Service Center up for a public vote.
A petition signing event is being planned for Saturday at Chautauqua Park from 11 to 2.
Mayor Dave Carlrud gave KVRR Local News the following statement:
“As Mayor of Valley City, I respect the democratic process and the rights of our citizens to engage in it. Our city commission has been committed to serving the best interests of our community, making informed decisions, and addressing the challenges that come with governing a growing and dynamic city.
I appreciate the dedication of our commissioners and the community’s engagement in shaping the future of Valley City. We all need to move forward with mutual respect and a shared commitment to our city’s success.”
