The event featured a silent auction of many Scandinavian nicknacks, plus a traditional Norwegian meal.

FARGO, N.D. – It was a Norwegian extravaganza at the Kringen Lodge this Saturday as local groups begin to gear up for this summer’s Scandinavian Festival.

The annual Nordic Gala took place in the familiar haunt for the Sons of Norway.

The evening kicked off with a social and a silent auction with lots of Nordic memorabilia.

Then it was time for a traditional meal with an out-of-town speaker discussing Norweigian heritage.

Event organizers said it always makes them proud to see so many in the community eager to celebrate their culture.

“I don’t think I’ve ever met a person with Norwegian heritage that’s not super proud of that,” said Marit Horvdik, President of the Nordic Culture Clubs.

“It’s just wonderful. It’s a huge part of our history here in the Valley.”

Tickets for the gala were $50 at the door – and the Nordic Culture Clubs say that revenue is critical for funding the 2025 Scandinavian Festival.

That’s going to take place June 20 and 21st.
