George Wendt, Norm From “Cheers”, Dies at 76

The man who delivered one of the most classic lines in sitcom history has died.

Hey what’s happening, Norm?” “It’s a dog eat dog world Sammy and I’m wearing milkbone underwear.”

That of course is from “Cheers”. The man who played Norm, George Wendt, has died at the age of 76.

Wendt’s family said he died early Tuesday morning, peacefully in his sleep while at home, according to the publicity firm The Agency Group.

Wendt earned six consecutive Emmy nominations for his performance as Norm Peterson on the NBC series.

In addition to other tv shows and movies, Wendt was “Moose” in 2023 on season nine of “The Masked Singer”.

His publicist says he was a doting family man, a well-loved friend and confidant to all of those lucky enough to have known him.
