FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – The weather was hotter than usual and the skies a bit hazier – but you couldn’t tell that from the enthusiasm on the ground for the Fargo Marathon.

The annual extravaganza went on as planned, and it seemed to go off without a hitch.

More than 11,000 runners competed in all races at the event, including Friday night’s 5K.

Race organizers said they were pleased with how it all turned out.

“I think everyone’s just glad to be finishing and to get a cold beer at this point,” laughed race director Chip Hazewski.

“So far, I think everyone’s happy, we’ll see what happens after the event, we’ll look at peoples’ survey results and go from there.”

One notable winner was in the women’s 10K race. That victory was claimed by 13-year-old Claire Grinde of Hillsboro.
