Trinity Lutheran to host speaking event on Christian nationalism
MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Those worried about Christian nationalism have an opportunity to hear about the issue.
The event is happening at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, and it started when members of their congregation expressed concerns about Christian Nationalism.
Jerry Gale is the founder of the Minnesota chapter of Christians Against Christian Nationalism and will be speaking at the event.
Gale lives in Minneapolis and started speaking out against Christian Nationalism after seeing the events in Washington on Jan. 6, 2021.
Trinity Pastor Matt Peterson says that while faith has a place in politics, it doesn’t come at the cost of other faiths, and hopes the event will help educate people as well as to calm some fears.
“This is one way that we felt that we could use Trinity as a platform to do some clarifying as well as to, hopefully, do some education and to calm some anxiety that we feel is out there in the community at this time,” Peterson said.
Christians Against Christian Nationalism is endorsed by the presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
The event at Trinity Lutheran starts Tuesday at 6:30.
