Gov. Dayton Calls Out States Banning Syrian Refugees
Minnesota Gov. Dayton is calling out governors who are declaring their borders closed to Syrian refugees.
Dayton lashed out saying states who are closed to the refugees are guilty of “showmanship” and are turning their backs on people who desperately need help.
Other governors are shutting down their borders because they say they are worried radicals will try to blend in and carry out attacks.
Dayton says states can protect its citizens without closing the doors on refugees.
“I want to protect the people of Minnesota every bit as much as any of those governors want to protect the people of their states. But to stand up there with swagger and say well, I’m going to prevent the wrong people from entering my state, to me, is just ludicrous” says Gov. Dayton.
Dayton says states can protect its citizens without closing the doors on refugees by doing extensive background checks.
