Opening day of Red River Valley Fair brings many ready for fun

WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — It’s day one of the Red River Valley Fair, and while there’s a steady stream of people on the grounds many say there is a lot of fun and excitement to have.

“Ten out of ten experience, I would come again forever,” said Luis.

“Come to the fair, it’s really nice out. And yeah,” said Kinzley Dohrer.

“Be sure to wear your sunscreen,” said McKanna Dohrer

“Wear sunscreen so you don’t get burned,” said Dohrer.

Compared to last year’s schedule, this year’s Red River Valley Fair is spread out with ten days filled with carnival rides, games, events, and more. Last year’s fair had a significant loss in revenue due to $400,000 in credit card chargebacks in 2023 and a low number of ticket sales to the Blake Shelton concert.

“If it wasn’t around the fourth of July time, I would think it would be better. Because now everybody’s probably out by the lake getting ready to set up for fireworks, probably the whole weekend. So there goes three days already that’s missing out on, like granted, you get the few people today. But there could be more if it wasn’t on the fourth of July time,” said Jeremiah Jackson.

As the fair kicked off, many of the lines to the rides and games were wide open. With the humidity building up, many did not stop from running to try all the rides.

“So we just went on the Flashback one, and that one was pretty fun,” said Meliyah.

“It was scary, it felt like you were about to fall off,” said Luis.

“Yes, it was very scary. It feels like you’re about to get stuck when you get to the top,” said Nevaeh.

“It spins really fast, and like you go in the air. It starts off like this, and it goes like that. But if you’re a nauseous person, I wouldn’t go on it,” said Dohrer.

As the fair continues, many are excited for the coming days’ events and thrills
