Fresh off Winning “The Pete”, West Fargo is Ready for the Final Month of the Regular Season
THE PATRIOTS WON "THE PETE" AT THE END OF JUNE AND NOW PREPARE FOR A 6-GAME ROAD TRIP IN WESTERN NORTH DAKOTA THE WEEK AFTER THE FOURTH OF JULY.
WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Most legion baseball teams are off during the Fourth of July Weekend, including the West Fargo Patriots.
A season ago, the Pats won the North Dakota 2A State Title and now this year they are looking to build on that success.
On Sunday, June 29, the Pats took home the Jim Petterson FM Invitation that boasted some of the top teams from Minnesota and North Dakota.
With Sunday wins of 8-0 over Fargo Post 400 and 7-0 over Tri-City out of Minnesota, the Patriots are glad to have “The Pete” title back in their possession and look for the wins to propel them to a strong finish to the regular season.
“It means everything,” said pitcher Evan Krogen. “Bringing it back to West Fargo, it’s good to have “The Pete” Trophy back in our clubhouse. That’s going to be awesome. It really gets us going and sets us up for down the road. Looking at winning a state title this year, and this is obviously a step in that direction.”
Hudson Dinger added, “It definitely gives us a lot of momentum and energy as well. I know we’re about to go on another big road trip here after the fourth, and coming off a win like this where we had back-to-back games over seven runs, it feels nice. Energy, attitude, morale, everything’s at an all-time high.”
Despite dropping two games to Fargo Post 2 on Wednesday in a doubleheader, the Patriots have a big week ahead after the holiday weekend with the opportunity to get back on track and climb the standings.
“Get back after the fourth, six games in conference, and whoever the opponent is, we just got to keep playing how we are,” said head coach Jordan Rheault. “42 outs, keep playing, keep extending leads, keep doing this, keep doing that. Doesn’t matter who’s doing what, just keep putting together tough games for us.”
West Fargo returns from the weekend break with games against:
-Dickinson on Monday, July 7,
-Mandan on Tuesday, July 8
-Bismarck on Wednesday, July 9.
They return to Young Field in Fargo on Monday, July 14 to play the Post 13 Eagles 18U.
