Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Mahnomen County
Authorities say it appears as though the deceased was struck by a vehicle.
MAHNOMNEN COUNTY, MN (KVRR) – Multiple agencies are investigating the death of a man near Mahnomen, Minnesota, in what appears to be a hit-and-run type of incident.
On July 18, 2025, at 6:10 A.M., dispatchers received a report of a male lying in the ditch near the intersection of Highway 59 and 160th Avenue, about two miles south of Mahnomen.
They say it appeared the man had been struck by a car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle in question that had apparently struck the man was found near the scene, unoccupied. The driver of said vehicle was identified and taken into custody.
The Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the White Earth Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol with the investigation.
