Wilkin County man rescued from grain bin after being stuck for 30 minutes before calling for help

WILKIN CO., Minn. (KVRR) — Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a man trapped in a grain bin near Campbell, Minnesota on Monday.
They received a 911 call around 12:15 p.m. that the man had been stuck for about 30 minutes before calling for help.
They arrived to find the man submerged in corn up to his waist and complaining of leg pain.
Specialized grain bin rescue equipment was used to free the man around 1:25 p.m.
He was alert and conscious and taken by ambulance to Essentia Health in Fargo to be evaluated.
An investigation found that the man had jumped into the bin to dislodge stuck corn when the grain began to shift.
The man’s son worked to shovel corn away from him until emergency responders arrived.
The sheriff’s office says it is the third grain bin accident this summer in Minnesota.
