West Fargo Police Department Warns of Latest Scam

This person is reportedly employing a tactic where they claim to be soliciting donations for kids in need.

WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – There is a man calling people in the West Fargo area identifying himself as a member of the police department named Dan and asking for money, says the West Fargo PD.

In a briefing put out August 22, the department says “Dan” asks for donations for local children in need, with instructions to provide payment or have an officer visit their residence to collect the donation.

The department assures the public that calls of this nature are indeed scams. If any call seems suspicious to you, the department encourages you to call them and verify the claims made.

If a resident receives a similar scam call, they are asked to contact the Red River Regional Dispatch Center at 701-451-7660.
