Moorhead man accused of deadly poisoning of roommate in St. Cloud

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KVRR) — A Moorhead man has been arrested for allegedly poisoning a St. Cloud man in June.

Police arrested 35-year-old Stuart Hanmer for homicide in connection with the death of 33-year-old Cody Ernst.

Doctors discovered thallium, a highly toxic heavy metal, in his system at levels so high, it had to be ingested.

Police believe Hanmer intentionally poisoned Ernst.

They were roommates at the time.

Hanmer is being held in Stearns County Jail pending formal charges.
