Fargo Mayor Mahoney given 2025 Leadership Excellence Award

BISMARCK, N.D. (KVRR) — Fargo Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney has been given the 2025 Leadership Excellence Award by the North Dakota League of Cities.

The award was presented during the leagues annual conference in Bismarck.

They say Mahoney was selected for his compassion and steady leadership through challenges ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic to historic flooding.

His list of achievements include the construction of the FM Diversion, Red River Valley Water Supply Project and downtown Fargo revitalization efforts.

Mahoney became mayor in 2014 when Mayor Dennis Walaker died.

His last term in office ends in June 2026.
