North Dakota Attorney General reveals investigation into unlawful images started months ago
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Over the last week, several students at Fargo Davies High School have been under investigation by North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley, the BCI, and other law enforcement agencies for sharing unlawful images. And Wrigley shares that these images weren’t the beginning.
“Back in April of 2025, a resource officer with the West Fargo middle school, and I’m not going to name, was made aware that child sexual abuse materials had been created with reference to an actual middle school child. At that same West Fargo school. They had been created two years prior and were being shared by a high school student,” said Wrigley.
According to Wrigley, they learned of more images after the initial investigation in late August. With the aid of the social media company, Snapchat, they were able to narrow down more students involved, ranging from juveniles to adults.
“So far, predominantly, one school with over fifty phones seized as a result of how quickly this sort of thing metastasizes. It just doesn’t take much to hit send to whatever size group you want,” said Wrigley.
While the investigation has been taking place mainly of students at Fargo Davies, Wrigley says there are potentially other students from other schools.
“What we know now, we know going into a small number of fifth of the phones so far. And we have substantial information involving a number of young people,” said Wrigley.
Wrigley shared that this issue has been growing not just in North Dakota, but on a national level. And he is hopeful that with this meeting, it will bring awareness to the matter.
Wrigley says the investigation is continuing, and so far, no charges have been filed.
