Local Nonprofit Holds Fundraiser to Help Underprivileged Children Have Happier Birthdays

The "Sunshine and Sprinkles" event was designed to raise money to help out the "Spread Your Sunshine" organization.

MOORHEAD, MN (KVRR) – A recently formed nonprofit organization held a fundraiser to try and provide underprivileged children with happier birthdays.

“Spread Your Sunshine” held the “Sunshine and Sprinkles” event at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday.

The organization focuses on providing birthday celebrations for the underprivileged and the unhoused, making sure children in tough situations still feel special on their special day.

Addie Loerzel founded the nonprofit in 2024. Her and her mom, Marisa, focused on making “Sunshine and Sprinkles” as joyous as possible.

“It’s just a big, huge community party,” said Marisa. “A joyful coming together. We have characters, pizza, cake, a wonderful DJ – like I said, just fun party vibes.”

The event raised money through free-will donations and a raffle with prizes contributed by local businesses.
