Minnesota Housing awards grant money to 33 cities across greater Minnesota

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Housing board has approved more than four million dollars in grants for affordable and workforce housing in towns across the state.
Thirty-three cities with populations below ten thousand in greater Minnesota have been awarded the grant.
Funded through the state legislature, the Greater Minnesota Small Cities Housing Aid Grant Program can be used to support an array of workforce and affordable housing needs. However, priority will be given to projects supporting low-income households.
Cities can use the money to build either single or multiple family units, or to refurbish existing housing.
“Across the state we’re facing a housing shortage, especially for households and families that make the least. It’s really important that we keep investing in the housing stock we have and preserve the affordable units that are already out there and continue making new ones,” said Jill Mazullo, communications director for Minnesota Housing.
