Convention Center Committee considers proposals for building locations

FARGO — The Convention Center Committee met Friday afternoon to discuss the two sites possible for the center.
The first location would be at the 1700 block of 1st Ave North next door to Brewhalla and the second would be at the current Fargo Civic Center.
Questions coming up regarding the first location included spacing for vehicles going in and out, noise from the trains, and also whether events may collide between the two event spaces.
The group organizing the location set up said that the space is a perfect location to expand the downtown area.
“The opportunities to really expand that energy and excitement of downtown and redevelop a core neighborhood into something that’s exiting, engaging, and full of activity would be something just totally transformative for that neighborhood and for Fargo,” said Mark Bjornstad, president and co-owner of Drekker Brewing and Brewhalla.
The committee is scheduled to meet every Friday at 1 until they are ready to submit a final proposal to the city.
