UPDATE: woman found dead in a house fire just south of Horace, ND is identified

HORACE, N.D. (KVRR 3:20 PM 12/11/25 UPDATE) — The woman who died in a house fire last night south of Horace has been identified as 64-year-old Rebecca Bass.
Cass County Sheriff’s Office says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Shortly before 7 p.m. last night, the homeowner returned home and found it was filled with smoke.
Southern Valley Fire & Rescue and West Fargo Fire Department were called to the scene and they were able to contain the fire and located Bass’ body.
HORACE, N.D. (KVRR) — A 64-year-old woman has been found dead inside a house on fire just south of Horace.
Cass County Sheriff’s Office says shortly before 7 p.m., the homeowner returned home and found it was filled with smoke.
Southern Valley Fire & Rescue and West Fargo Fire Department were called to the scene and they were able to contain the fire and located the woman’s body.
The name of the deceased is not being released at this time according to the sheriff’s office.
Crews say the majority of the fire damage occurred inside the house and the cause remains undetermined at this time.
Cass County Sheriff’s Office, State Fire Marshal’s Office and Southern Valley Fire & Rescue will continue to investigate.
