Hunter Shot in the Leg; Second Injury from Deer Opener

A second hunter was accidentally shot and wounded during the opening weekend of Minnesota’s firearms deer season.

58-year-old Dale Fenrich of Litchfield, a Meeker County Commissioner, was shot in the leg while deer hunting Sunday afternoon in central Minnesota.

He was flown to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis with non life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, 36-year-old Robert Schlieman of Detroit Lakes was accidentally shot in the abdomen by a member of his hunting party in Swift County.

He was last listed in stable condition.
