Youth Skaters Take to Lindenwood Park for Pond Hockey Action
Youth Pond Hockey Day is always well-attended; and this year, the Park District even added the option for kids to sign up as free agents so everyone had the chance to join a team.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Some cold breezes hung in the air this Saturday, but that wasn’t stopping youth hockey players from taking to the outdoor ice for a day of competition.
Youth Pond Hockey Day, hosted by the Fargo Park District, returned to Lindenwood Park with greater numbers than ever before.
28 teams registered across 10-and-under, 8-and-under, and 6-and-under coed divisions, and matched up in 4-on-4 jamboree style play.
The vast expanse of Lindenwood was turned into a solid sheet of ice – which the Park District says wouldn’t have been possible without their dedicated operations team.
“They’ve been doing this ice for weeks now. So they put a lot of effort into maintaining it, making sure it’s good. I mean, they got up at like 6 A.M. this morning to flood it and make sure everything’s good to go,” laughed Tatiana Friese, event supervisor. “They’re constantly working and we could not put this event on without them.”
Next weekend, the adults get their turn, with a three-division tournament set to run all day Saturday, February 14, with an afterparty at CJ’s Tavern.
