Weekend snowfall sets record for Fargo-Moorhead

FARGO (KVRR-KFGO) – The official snowfall measurement for Fargo on Saturday was a record-setting 9.6 inches.

National Weather Service lead forecaster Timothy Lynch in Grand Forks says the total is a new single-day record for April 4. The previous record for that day was 4.7 inches set in 2023.

The snow also had a lot of water content. Lynch says the snow-water equivalent was anywhere from an inch to an inch-and-a-half.

Southeast North Dakota saw a general 9 to 12 inches of snowfall Saturday. Grand Forks saw 3.2 inches. In Minnesota, Blackduck came in with the highest snowfall total in the region with between 13 and 15 inches.

Lynch says that much snow falling at once is not common for the region.
