Officer Justified in Shooting

A Fargo Police officer who shot a man after a traffic stop last month will not face criminal charges.

The Cass County State’s Attorney says officer Patrick Thomas was justified in shooting Carmen Redshirt.

The 31-year old from Bismarck was driving a stolen car when he pulled a gun on Thomas in the Walmart parking lot on 13th Avenue South.

It turned out to be a BB gun with a laser that looked like a more powerful weapon.

Thomas shot Redshirt in the abdomen and he was hospitalized for several days.

His blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit for driving.
