Minnesota boy in ICU after rescuing brother from icy creek

GREENWAY, Minn. (KVRR-KQDS) – A five-year-old boy from the Iron Range is in intensive care after rescuing his younger brother from an icy creek on Easter Sunday.
Family and friends are celebrating the courage and love of Ashkan Thibodeaux, but also asking for help with a GoFundMe effort.
While exploring near a creek with his little brother, Wyatt, he slipped and fell into the icy water. Ashkan jumped in to save his brother, guiding him to safety and saving his life.
Now, Ashkan is fighting for his own. Ashkan is receiving care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Minnesota.
The GoFundMe page for Ashkan says, “The road ahead will be long and filled with emotional and financial challenges for their family. We created this fundraiser to support them during this difficult time.”
Within half a day of starting the GoFundMe, the family raised about $10,000.
