Update: Farmer Finds Remains in Douglas County

Authorities Have Been Searching for Missing College Woman

Updated Information:  The Douglas County Sheriff says a farmer reported finding what he believed to be human remains in a field in Orange Township.

Deputies confirmed they appeared to be remains of a late teens to early twenties female.

They have been looking for 18 year old University of Minnesota, Morris freshman Laura Schwendemann.

They have not confirmed if the remains are Laura’s.

She was last seen getting gas in Alexandria on October 14 with a man, who is known to her.

The Midwest Medical Examiners Officer will work to identify the remains.

Sheriff’s officials say a man last seen with a college student who disappeared nearly two weeks ago is a person they’re investigating in the case.

The Douglas County Sheriff says the man is a person of interest in Laura Schwendemann’s disappearance because he was the last person seen with her.

The 18-year-old University of Minnesota, Morris freshman was seen getting gas in Alexandria on October 14 with the man, who is known to her.

Authorities have searched by air and ground for the missing teen who has lived in Hancock and Starbuck.
