City of Finley Without Drinkable Water

Steele County officials say the lack of water stems from a leak in the city's water main.

FINLEY, N.D. (KVRR) – The city of Finley in Steele County, North Dakota is currently experiencing a lack of safe drinking water.

This issue has reportedly been occurring since the afternoon of April 17. Steele County emergency management officials say that what little water is available to residents has been deemed unsuitable for consumption – and other uses – until further notice by multiple state departments.

The problem has seemingly been caused by a leak in the city’s water main.

Residents are entitled to one free case of bottled water per household, which can be collected at the Finley Fire Department.

Officials from the city of Finley and Steele County emergency services met with representatives from the Dakota Rural Water District and other agencies Sunday at 10 A.M. on April 19 to discuss the situation.
