Great Plains Food Bank begins a new chapter with a new distribution center

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — After serving the region for 43 years, Great Plains Food Bank is expanding its operations with a new distribution center.
The center has been a few years in the making, as the needs of the community have continued to grow.
In 2025, the food bank served more than 167,000 individuals across 54 counties.
The current facility has also faced significant challenges, with the need for off-site storage and the need for major repairs.
With the new facility, the building is expected to provide a 57% increase in space.
“It shouldn’t matter where you live. If you’re struggling with hunger, Great Plains Food Bank needs to be there to provide that hope with nutritious food,” said Ann Prifrel, CEO of Great Plains Food Bank.
The new distribution center is expected to open in the fall of 2027.
