Two Seriously Injured After Motorcycle Crash in Richland County

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the motorcycle was sideswiped after it cut off a vehicle that was attempting to pass.

RICHLAND COUNTY, N.D. (KVRR) – Two people sustained serious injuries after being thrown from a motorcycle in a sideswipe collision.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the incident took place just after 9:30 P.M. on May 14, about 1 mile east of Lidgerwood. A Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2005 Buick Park Avenue were both traveling westbound on Highway 11. While the Buick was attempting to pass, the Harley entered the eastbound lane. The driver of the Harley lost control after being sideswiped, after which it entered the south ditch, where both people on the bike were thrown and sustained serious injuries. They were taken to Sanford in Fargo for treatment. Neither were wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The 49-year-old male driver of the Harley has been charged with driving under the influence and driving under suspension. His 37-year-old female passenger is not facing any charges.

The 59-year-old driver of the Buick was uninjured and is also not facing any charges.
