No Charges Against UND Frat in Hate Crime Case

The Grand Forks County States Attorney declines to bring charges against a teen who claimed he was beaten outside a UND fraternity in August.

Grand Forks Police had presented an affidavit alleging 18 year old Haakon Gisvold gave false information to authorities.

Gisvold wrote on his Facebook page just days after the alleged incident that “the whole fraternity should not be to blame as I’m not sure if every guy involved was part of the frat.”

Police were called to Lambda Chi Alpha after Gisvold claimed he was assaulted and called homophobic slurs.

Police determined that did not happen and they believe the physical altercation was initiated by Gisvold.
